SLIMBRIDGE TOURNAMENT A SUCCESS!!
Slimbridge Youth Football Club held their 6th Annual Football Tournament last weekend. A record turnout of well over 1200 visitors converged onto the Slimbridge Playing Fields for the annual festival of football. With some 56 teams competing for Trophies and Fair Play awards the event was "simply the best" in the words of Commercial Manager Tony Cornock.
"This year we worked very hard to ensure everyone came away with a great memory of our football festival. Each player walked away with a commemorative medal whilst parents basked in the August sunshine. Once again this event has grown steadily year on year. We gratefully thank all of our local sponsors". Ian Bell Chairman of SYFC commented. "Already we are excited about plans to expand the tournament further next year to accommodate extra age groups, whilst trying to ensure we keep the special atmosphere of this truly family event. We are thankfully blessed with a core of very hard working volunteers who have made this event one of the most sought after tournaments in the region".
New Slimbridge senior side chairman Keith Sparrow presented the awards to the following clubs.
