SPITFIRES OVERCOME WICKWAR TO STAY TOP

Slimbridge Spitfires U11’s 4 Wickwar U11’s 0

Slimbridge produced a professional performance in defeating Wickwar 4-0 and remain on course to retain their title. They meet Rockleaze next Saturday in a match that could decide the title.

The Spitfires were quick off the mark and were 2-0 up inside five minutes thanks to goals from Ryan Ponting and George Mack. It seemed only a matter of time before they scored again, but stubborn resistance from Wickwar meant the score stayed the same until half time.

The second half saw Jordan Hodges extend the lead and it was only great defending from Sam Crosbee and some solid goalkeeping from Harry Prescott that kept the clean sheet intact.

Ryan Ponting then got his second to finish the game off.

If Slimbridge win their remaining games they are the champions, but they will have to do it the hard way by defeating second placed Rockleaze and their bogey side Rodborough.

Men of the Match were Jamie Eyles and Sam Crosbee.
