SLIMBRIDGE AND WOTTON END EVEN
Slimbridge Spitfires U10 1 Wotton Rovers Lions U10 1
In what was a fantastic match bewteen two very good sides, honours were even and rightly so.
Both teams produced some superb football in difficult conditions. The Spitfires were quicker off the mark and almost went ahead when Ollie Furneaux hit the post. Jordan Hodges also went close.
At the other end Ryan Ponting and Joe Wilcox were in great form and goalkeeper Harry Prescott only had a couple of long shots to save. Gradually Wooton came into it and they forced a series of corners before half time, but couldn't find a way through.
The second half started poorly for the Spitfires and they were soon one down. Harry Prescott palmed out a cross shot, but only into the path of the oncoming striker who put it away.
Slimbridge redoubled their efforts and Joe Oliver made a good break down the left. His cross found George Mack who steered the ball home.
Joe Wilcox came close when hitting the post and when Kelvin Hiles broke clear he couldn't believe it when his shot also hit the upright.
Jamie Eyles came on to help out in defence and made sure that the score remained 1-1. Ryan Ponting and Ollie Furneaux were named Men of the Match.
