SPITFIRES CRUISE INTO SECOND ROUND

Windsor Drive U10 1 Slimbridge Spitfires U10 12

Slimbridge cruised through the first round of the cup with a stunning 12-1 win over Windsor Drive.

The Spitfires started on fire and Jordan Hodges had scored within a minute after good work down the right by Joe Oliver. Hodges scored again two minutes later, this time the assist came from Captain George Mack.

Jordan completed his hat-trick after just seven minutes when he collected a ball from Ollie Furneaux and smashed it past the keeper.

By now Windsor Drive were in disarray and it was just a minute later when Joe Oliver scored the fourth with a super individual goal.

Windsor Drive tried to up their game and they forced a corner from their first attack after ten minutes. The corner came in and Ethan Wait was unfortunate to score an own goal.

The revival for Windsor Drive was short lived however and Kelvin Hiles was on hand to make it five from close range.  Joe Oliver grabbed his second and the Spitfires sixth after a great pass from Hiles.

Joe Wilcox scored next with a header at near post from a cross by Jordan Hodges. Ollie Furneaux scored the eighth after more good work from Hiles just before half time.

The second half saw a few changes with Jordan Hodges going in goal, with Harry Prescott coming out into defence and Ethan Wait joining the attack. George Mack grabbed his goal with a super long shot ten minutes into the second half.

Joe Oliver completed his hat-trick soon after. It was now becoming a mission to try to get all the Spitfires players on the score sheet and Harry Prescott was sent up front to play alongside Ethan. Ryan Ponting was moved into midfield and he scored with just over ten minutes left with a low shot.

Ethan went close on two occasions and Harry Prescott also had a shot saved by the keeper. With time running out though, Harry burst through to slip the ball past the keeper and make the final score 12-1.

Men of the Match were Kelvin Hiles and Ethan Wait.
