SPITFIRES DEFEATED IN LEAGUE FINALE
Rodborough 2 Spitfires 0
With the title already won, it could be argued that the Spitfires let their foot off the gas and were not up for this game. However, the reality is that Rodborough were the better team and took the chances that came their way.
Before the match started the Rodborough players formed a guard of honour for the Spitfires. This was fantastic gesture and appreciated by everyone.
The game itself was an even affair and both teams played some great football. Jordan Hodges and Joe Oliver both went close early with good chances.
Roadborough took the lead when some hesitation in the Slimbridge defence saw Rodborough get a shot away and although Harry Prescott made a good initial save he could do nothing about the follow up.
The second half saw the Spitfires push forward and Ollie Furneaux, george Mack, Joe Wilcox and Ryan Ponting all had chances for an equaliser.
Rodborough were still dangerous. A long goal kick caused problems for the defance and again Harry Prescott made a tremendous save only to see it fall to an attacking player, who put the ball away.
It was full credit to Rodborough who deserved the win. The game was played in a great spirit between the players.
Men of the Match were Ryan Ponting and Ollie Furneaux.
