SPITFIRES REMAIN TOP OF THE TABLE

Golden Valley Rangers 0 Slimbridge Spitfires 15

The Spitfires continued their 100% start to the season with a comfortable win over a plucky Golden Valley side.

As usual the Spitfires were quickly into their stride and Jordan Hodges struck inside two minutes. Within five minutes he had doubled the lead with a brilliant curling shot. Golden Valley then had a couple of chances but were denied by some solid saves from Harry Prescott.

It was only a matter of time before the goals started again and this time it was Captain Ollie Furneaux breaking from midfield who was the goalscorer. Kelvin Hiles got the next with a neat finish. Jordan Hodges completed his hat-trick to make it 5-0.

Joe Wilcox playing in midfield then took over. He scored a hat-trick within ten minutes to put Slimbridge 8-0 up at the break.

The second half started in the same fashion and it was no surprise when Joe Oliver scored after good work from George Mack. George then scored himself, the ball just going over the line before Jordan Hodges finished it. Ryan Ponting got his first goal of the game next with a low shot.

Joe Wilcox had now gone in goal, which allowed Harry Prescott to play in midfield. Defender Ethan Wait was pushed forward and he got his goal after he headed on a cross by Joe Oliver. Joe Oliver scored his second soon after.

Ryan Ponting scorred two more to complete his hat-trick and the scoring, making the end result 15-0 for the Spitfires.

Next week sees the team play championship rivals Thornbury Falcons in what should be acracking match.

Men of the Match were Joe Wilcox and Ethan Wait.
