Slimbridge Spitfires U11’s 2 Forest Green Rovers U11’s 2

Top two for the last two years, Slimbridge and Forest Green served up a wonderful advert for youth football in this entertaining draw.

Although it was Forest Green who started better, it was Slimbridge who took the lead with a great finish by Ryan Ponting. Slimbridge then had chances to go further ahead but couldn’t take them. They were made to pay just before half time when a goal mouth scramble saw Forest Green equalise.

The second half followed the first with Slimbridge going ahead again through Hodges. Some great defending by Ryan Ponting and Joe Wilcox kept Forest Green out, but they couldn’t prevent a great equaliser after a long range shot. Hodges hit the post in the dying moments, but a draw was a fair result.

Men of the Match were Jordan Hodges and Joe Willcox.
