SLIMBRIDGE LOSE FIRST LEAGUE GAME OF THE SEASON
Forest Green Rovers 4 Slimbridge Spitfires 3
Slimbridge slipped to their first league defeat of the season after a hard fought game against Forest Green.
Slimbridge went behind in controversial circumstances when a shot was pushed onto the bar by goalkeeper Harry Prescott. Although the ball seemed to come down on the line the referee gave the goal and Forest Green led 1-0 at half time.
The second half saw the Spitfires start brightly and they equalised early in the half after a great run by George Mack ended with Jordan Hodges scoring. Forest Green hit back immediately though and scored twice in quick succession to make it 3-1.
Slimbridge were not finished and Joe Wilcox poked the ball home to make it 3-2. Jordan Hodges then rounded the goalkeeper to make it 3-3 with ten minutes to go. Both teams then had chances to win it, before Forest Green broke clear to make it 4-3.
Ryan Ponting and Jamie Eyles were Men of the Match.
