SPITFIRES KNOCKED OUT OF CUP BY MITCHELDEAN

Slimbridge suffered a first round cup exit after an extra time defeat against Mitcheldean.

In a superb match both teams attacked end to end from the start and it was amazing that the game had a 0-0 scoreline at half time.

Slimbridge had the better of the start of the second half and went ahead thanks to a super finish by Jordan Hodges. Mitcheldean started to put the pressure on, but super defending by Sam Crosbee, Ryan Ponting and Joe Wilcox kept them out.

Four minutes from time Mitcheldean got their equaliser with a quick counter attack.

The game went into extra time and Mitcheldean got the vital breakthrough. The Spitfires peppered the goal with efforts, but couldn’t get the equaliser.

Man of the Match was Sam Crosbee.
