Spitfires Lose In Final To Quedgley Again

It was a case of deja vu, when the Spitfires finished runners-up for the second year running and once again to Quedgley Wanderers. After wins over form teams Wotton Rovers, FC Lakers and King Stanley in the group stages, the Spitfires looked on course for the final. The final two group games saw them lose to Quedgley B and draw with hosts Everside. However it was still enough to see them through.

The final saw Slimbridge slip 0-2 down at half time. In the second half the Spitfires upped their game and Ryan Ponting got a goal back. Harry Prescott then pulled off a magnificent save to keep the Spitfires in it and in the closing minute George Mack hit the post with an outstanding effort. It was just not enough and Quedgley held on to win.
