SLIMBRIDGE WIN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Spitfires Win Mid Glos Champion of Champions
The Spitfires ended their season with a league and Champions League double.
After winning the Mid Glos South league they qualified for end of season Champions League Tournament at Berkeley.
They started strongly with a 1-0 win over Mitcheldean thanks to a Jordan Hodges goal. They then had to play again in hot conditions against FC Woodpeckers. A hard fought game ended 0-0. This saw them into the final against Wotton.
They started the final well and took an early lead after a Hodges shot was spilled into the path of Reece Chambers. However the Spitfires were pegged back before half time. At the end of extra time the score remained 1-1.
Harry Prescott saved Wotton’s first penalty and it was left to George Mack to slot the winner to win 3-2 and claim the cup.
The Spitfires were represented by Harry Prescott, Joe Willcox, Ryan Ponting, Jamie Eyles, Reece Chambers, Jordan Hodges, Ollie Furneaux, Joe Oliver, Sam Crosbee and George Mack.
