Tredworth Tigers U13 2 v Slimbridge Crusaders U13 3
Tredworth's unbeaten league record stretched back over three and a half years prior to this encounter. At that stage they were an Under 9 team. The Gloucester League 11 a side champions for the past two seasons knew they had a tough contest from the first whistle. Slimbridge scored inside the first minute directly from a Kodi Connor corner, the ball rose above the keeper into the top left corner in unstoppable fashion.
Within five minutes two more goals followed, a Greg Penlington looped effort and similar goal followed by long serving midfielder Marcus Cole. At this stage Tredworth were shell shocked by the Crusaders onslaught. Whilst the game was still in its early stages Slimbridge contained the expected response from the Tigers. A great save from Jordan Ball kept Slimbridge in control. Mitchell Cornock reacted with a great run on the right wing to test the home keeper who dive full stretch for the save of the game. Tredworth finally broke down the brave Crusaders defence as they succumbed to a the first Tredworth goal from close range just before the break. Half-time was welcomed by Crusaders at the end of an entertaining, but exhausting first half.
The second half started in the same vein with both sides battling hard for possession with midfield dynamo Kodi Campbell the pick of midfield for dominating in great style. Will Gosling and Corey Chapman-Knight commanded the central defensive roles. With the home side scoring five minutes before the long-awaited final whistle leading to a frantic end to an exhilarating match. The tremendous visiting support were relieved and proud as the players celebrated their first win of the season.
