Windsor Drive U13s 2 v Slimbridge Crusaders U13s 3
Crusaders score in final minute to maintain 100% record
A resilient Crusaders side maintained their 100% league record in a physically demanding game last weekend.
Whilst Windsor Drive opened the scoring in this high tempo match, with both teams protecting unbeaten records, the game was even at the break. Mitchell Cornock equalising after great work from the hard working Shaun Carr.
Slimbridge previously had appeared to be on top as left sided midfielder Marcus Tudor was upended in the penalty area, further questionable challenges followed with no reward.
The inevitable bookings followed for the frustrated Windsor Drive youngsters each side of half time. Firstly for dissent, then a two footed challenge on Captain Will Gosling resulted in forced substitutions for the visitors.
Slimbridge added more pressure and deservedly took a second half lead with a deflected own goal . Defensive frailties offered the home side a lifeline as they equalised against the run of play.
With this tense affair held on a knife edge at 2-2 and time quickly running out, striker Marcus Coles' initial shot was well saved, but he followed up in good fashion in time added on. Crusaders were worthy of three points and applauded off by their exuberant visiting support.
Man of the Match: Jake Dolbear for his masterful midfield display and total commitment.
