Newnham Juniors U12s  2  v Slimbridge Crusaders U12s  9

Slimbridge U12s (pictured) embarked on their first ever 11 a side league game with great expectation. Following 4 very successful years of 7 a side football; the team's debut in 11 a side football certainly did not disappoint. It took just 5 minutes of intense pressure to open the account; albeit a deflected own goal. Further goals from Marcus Tudor, Jake Dolbear and Marcus Cole, before Newnham replied after a defensive lapse. The goal of the game came from Slimbridge defender and man of the match Corey Chapman-Knight, he had an exceptional game throughout. His corner was passed back and he thundered an unstoppable shot thought a stunned defence, leaving Slimbridge with a 5-1 lead at the break.

The second half brought further goals from goal-hungry Slimbridge, who were determined to create more chances. Team Captain Will Gosling was rewarded with a goal, matching his great performance, other goals were from Joel Ash, Joe Ball and Marcus Tudor, with a further Newnham goal when the Slimbridge defence to clear quick enough. Newnham were gracious in defeat and an advert for superb sportsmanship.
