Glos Co Cup Round 2
Slimbridge Crusaders U12s 3 v Cleeve Colts U12s 2 AET
Crusaders battled through to round 3 after extra time in a tightly fought game played in wet and windy conditions. Slimbridge created many chances in the first half, it was inevitable Connor Campbell would eventually outrun the Cleeve defence to open his account.
Early in the second half Cleeve equalised, then deservedly went 2-1 in front whilst Jordan Ball had preformed heroics in the Slimbridge goal with a string of acrobatic saves, the best save, pushing a goal bound shot onto the upright to keep the score in check.
Kurt Phillips had his best start at left back this season working really hard to keep the onslaught at bay. With just seconds remaining of normal time in this exhilarating game, free kick specialist Corey Chapman-Knight scored with a superbly placed drive from 25 yards to the delight of the spellbound home support to earn extra time.
Within 5 minutes of added time, inform striker Marcus Cole sealed the game with cool finishing inside the penalty box placing the shot past the advancing keeper. Slimbridge Crusaders were able to hang on after demonstrating a hard working performance which was recognised sportingly by the Cleeve Colts manager.
M.O.T.M Jordan Ball.
