Crusaders in 7th heaven
Ashelworth Woodpeckers U13 1 v Slimbridge Crusaders U13 7
A well disciplined Crusaders side displayed quality football in an entertaining game. Goals from Marcus Cole (2) Mitchell Cornock (2) Marcus Tudor, Shaun Carr and a late penalty from Corey Chapman Knight ensured a well deserved victory. Slimbridge extend their 100% league record to 7 straight wins and head the table with a 6 point lead.
Whilst goalkeeper Jordan Ball was taken off with a knee injury, Kieran Franks deputised and made a terrific save at point blank, to keep a second half clean sheet. There were excellent performances from a very strong Slimbridge midfield, plus a fine outing from star defender Corey Chapman-Knight. This team continues to progress well, but will face much tougher challenges in the coming weeks.
Crusaders take a break from league action with a home league cup match against Matson this Sunday KO 2.00pm.All players are to meet at the ground 1.15pm. Training resumes next Thursday.
Man of the Match: A vintage show from Marcus Cole who worked tirelessly throughout the game.
